There is a good amount of customisation you can do while creating your character. first of all you get to choose your race: Man, Hobbit, Elf and Dwarf. Second what type of warrior you want to be: Champion, Captain, Hunter, Lore-Master, Burgler, Guardian, Rune-Keeper, Warden and Minstrel. Thirdly you get to chance to appearance of your character from body size and hair colour to beards and the size of nose. You also get to select the location your character was born, the locations differ between different races.
The storyline of this also varies depending on your race at the beginning of the game until finally all 4 of the different races come together in Bree to assist Aragorn in the Prancing Pony. I don't want to talk to much about the storyline because i wouldn't want to ruin it for people about to try the game so lets move on.
If you have ever played other MMO games on your PC such as World of Warcraft and/or Rift then you should be able to catch onto the game relatively quickly. If you are new to these games and wanting to try them out don't worry about it because Lotro has a great tutorial system to show you the ropes in everything you need to know to kick some Orc ass!
Join millions of players in the world's largest fellowship of fans: a heroic force gathering on the edge of a blade to turn back the swelling shadow of the Dark Lord Sauron. Band together to fight, explore, forge your own legends, and make friends with the others who have heard the call of adventure and come to Middle-earth. Monster Play / PVP
Monsterplay is available to players once they get a character to level 10. Monsterplayer allows you to jump into the Ettenmoors with a Monster of your choosing already at the maximum level. The Ettenmoors is where Monsters and People Fight one another (Player versus Player) to control points of the map. It is a never ending war but is extremely fun to do! You can enter the Ettenmoors with your Good characters once you hit a high enough level to fight off the monsters.
Free to Play
Yes, this game is Free to Play but you can also purchase it to have a larger access to better equipment, quests and locations. If it doesn't sound worth the $14.99 a month to play the game with extra things then just play it for free! Play the trail before judging this awesome game.
